Course

The Knock Golf Club Course is a beautiful parkland course situated on the outskirts of Belfast and is overlooked by the famous Stormont Buildings. Some of the most difficult holes are set in the backdrop of the magnificent Stormont Castle.

The Top 100 Courses is the only independent website dedicated to the best Courses in the world – they rate Knock number 22 of courses in N Ireland.

Measuring 6,428 yards with a standard scratch of 70 the Course is renowned for its wonderful condition, with lush fairways, fast greens and a mature tree lined aspect.

Knock poses a stern test of golf even for the very best player. With hole 10 being the only par 5, Knock’s par of 70 sets a stiff test from tee to green. Emphasis is placed on long accurate driving and with 17 of the greens having strategically placed bunkers around them, the challenge also demands good club selection and careful approach lines into the greens.

As you enter Knock Golf Club one cannot help but notice the superb 14th hole on ones left which stretches off into the distance towards Stormont Castle, at 447 yards, stroke index 1, this is the only hole with no bunkers. Your tee shot here demands courage and commitment as you drive with a slight draw to leave your ball between the tall trees which guard the fairway on both the left and right hand sides. With a river lurking just 30 yards short of the putting surface, 2nd shot selection is very important, to lay-up or go for it? and when you get to the putting area, 2 putts is no disgrace on this green.

The course record is currently held by a Knock Golf Club member, Nick Grant (+3 handicap)who shot a 63 on the 15th July 2008.

In May 2015 the course was used by the Professionals as one of only two qualifying venues in GB for the Northern Ireland Open which is part of the European Challenge Tour and played at the Galgorm Castle in August 2015. In late August 2016/ early September Knock hosted the Ladies British Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship.

The character of Knock extends from its course to its clubhouse where a warm and friendly welcome awaits you. Come in and sample our hospitality, have a drink and a meal in the pleasant surroundings which are there for your enjoyment.
