Competition news

President's Day

The president Ken Graham had his Presidents' Day this weekend with a whopping 245 people taking part over the Friday and Saturday the weather stayed pretty fair for both days and the course was magnificent. I heard such good reports I actually went out and played the front nine on the Saturday after work. Well done to Lee and his team, the greens were running brilliantly even at 5pm! The winner of the President's prize was Peter Parke(pictured with his son Charlie). Also pictured is Brian Sinnamon who won the shortest drive award Kenny Graham tells me Brian would be better hitting the ball with his prize!

Peter shot a rather impressive 42 points to pip Gary Kennedy and Andrew Gilmour who both shot 40 points. The best gross went to our Irish international Colin Fairweather with a 68. The whole weekend was a huge success with great prizes up for grabs. I myself accepted a kind invitation from Ken to join him for the evening meal and festivities as usual the food was amazing and the company was great. The band had the dance floor packed and I heard many people commenting on it being one of the best nights for a long time. Congratulations to everyone involved and to all of the prize winners. May I take this opportunity to thank Ken Graham for his invite to the evening meal and drinks. I am pretty sure I helped the bar takings that night quite considerably!

The Wednesday Hat

The Wednesday Hat is still going from strength to strength with a good turnout! The amount of holes are reducing because of the shorter nights, but still make your way up on a Wednesday to enjoy the hat banter! I know David Rush and Frank McGrath have a Hat Order of Merit running with prizes for the winners.

Victory CupVictory Cup

The final of the Victory Cup took place on Sunday between Simon Miskelly and David McClusky. The two gladiators (pictured) had a great match with David coming out victorious by a single hole! Congratulations to David who's father won the same trophy back in 1981 ( probably the last time Arsenal won the league haha).

ILGU Medal

The ladies this week played for the ILGU Medal. It is an 18 hole strokeplay competition, and the winner was Denise Moore with Irene Reid in second and Ethel Ruddock in third. There were 3 two's paying out £11 each and this has been added onto the respective pro shop accounts. Well done ladies.

Titleist Tour

On Tuesday I had the privilege to accept an invitation from Titleist to attend a tour of their factory at St. Ives in Cambridge. As an ambassador, this is a lovely perk and I loved seeing how the products are assembled and the rigorous testing that goes on. Titleist leaves nothing to chance and their team of over 250 employees are so passionate it's not hard to see why they are the number one brand in golf! I learned so much and felt like a kid in a candy shop (See pictures below).

Pro Captains golf challenge

The captain and myself travelled to Lutterstown Castle golf club for the Pro Captains golf challenge. We had a great day of fun and both of us had never played the great course before. We didn't manage to win any prizes but I would recommend this course to anyone and it's only 2 hours down the road.

Golf Care

Are you taking a risk?

Every time we hear someone say they don’t have golf insurance, we wince. The potential costs associated with injuring someone with a stray shot, for example, should be enough to make you think about taking out a policy. We can help find a suitable policy that covers you with our recommended insurance provider, Golf Care, here…
