Past Lady Captain's Competition

It was great to see so many past Captains playing in this event which was held last week on Thursday, 27 August. Pictured is Doreen McVitty who was the eventual winner of the Past Lady Captain's Competition.

President's Day for the ladies

President's Day for the ladies took place on Tuesday with a mixture of sun and rain as usual on a Tuesday. The winner with 35 points was Joanne Greegan, so congratultations to Jo, obviously married life is suiting you well. She pipped Emmeline Johnston and Patricia Todd by one point. Karen Boucher won the nine holes prize and Alison Sinnamon took home the best gross. Anne Spence had the only two paying out a massive £58. Well done to all the winners!

September Monthly Tankard

The September Monthly Tankard was played for this weekend with Niell Warburton winning with a magnificent nett 64 (shooting a 69 gross) he pipped young Ross Latimer who shot a nett 65. The best gross went to the ever steady Simon Miskelly with a 68 and David Rush picked up the Anno Domini prize with a nett 68. The twos pot for this event paid out £9.50 and has been added to your pro shop accounts.

 

Peter Gregory Memorial Pro-Am

This week I played in the Peter Gregory Memorial Pro-Am at Clandeboye Golf Club. The course was in great condition with the greens running ultra-fast. My team consisting of Derek Quinn, Scott Collins (both Knock) and John Woods (Clandeboye) won the team event with an impressive 88 points. We all had a very enjoyable day and the boys also won some nice golf gear!

 

Course news

The green staff have been busy preparing the course for Presidents' Day this weekend and the endless rain hasn't helped, but the place is looking magnificent. I especially like the shaping of some of the fairways... Let's hope for a dry weekend ahead and good luck to all competitiors.

Titleist Ball Challenge

On Presidents' Day this Saturday I will be running the ever popular Titliest Ball Challenge as it was a huge hit on Captain's Day! Simply purchase three, six, nine or a dozen Titliest balls and if you beat your handicap (37 points or better) you will win the same amount as you purchased FREE of charge. Something to make President's Day a little more fun.

• Sunday, 13 September - Night Hawks Golf Society, Putter Competition and a Junior Competition
