Yellow tee specialist?
It's official Trevor Smyth is a yellow tee specialist... On Sunday, 12 July he edged out George Lighttbody by one point scoring a rather impressive 41 points and he backed this up by winning the newly set up Wednesday Sweep with a score of 38 points, with both competitions played off the yellow tees. It must suit the big man or maybe his new ride on buggy can only do the shorter course. Check out the Spurs badge on the wheel arch.. Good man!
Lombard Trophy
Well my week started playing the brilliant Palmer course at the K Club with Knock's representative Mr Don Wright Snr in the Lombard Trophy. We had a great day and finished in 8th position with a -2 (70). Very respectable! I would like to thank Don for carrying me around the first six holes!
Club Sweep
The club sweep last weekend was won by Mr George McGill with an outstanding 45 points. It was great to see, especially as George has recently been fitted for a new set of irons so it is great to see they are working well, congrats!
Denise Donald Salver
Our wonder kid Katie Poots aged nine won her first Ladies competition the Denise Donald Salver on Tuesday, 14 July as she shot a nett 69 to pip the ever steady Irene Reid by one and the ever consistent Heather Ward snatched third. Well done Katie the handicap is starting to drop. Denise Moore had the only two paying out £35. As for Irene's husband George it must be nice for your partner to keep topping up your pro shop account! Haha...
Sunday Sweep
Just a reminder to all members each Sunday I run an 18 hole sweep open to both ladies, gents and junior members. It's a stableford competition and cards can be taken out at any time of the day.
New practice balls!
Members who get annoyed when they see hundreds of balls over the 9th fairway please take note, Titleist have sent me 12 dozen yellow practice balls for teaching purposes. This should help you to recognise your own golf ball on the 9th fairway. My teaching balls from now on will be bright yellow with "PRACTICE" written on the side.
New training aids...
On my own teaching front, I have invested in many training aids to help pupils to learn faster. Pop into the pro shop and have a look for yourself! Pictured is a photo of the training aids in use on a daily basis.
Cadet/Junior Summer Scheme
The cadet and junior summer scheme started this week and it was great to see enthusiastic children learning in a fun environment! Andrew my assistant is doing a great job. There is still room available for the following six week course. The summer scheme runs on Mondays and Wednesdays between 10am and 11.30am. Please click here to call the pro shop for more details. Extra classes will be arranged if demand is high.
