Sunday Sweep (18th April)

It was great to see another good turnout for the Sunday sweep.

David McAlorum shot a superb 45pts to take top spot with Paul Armstrong runner up with 42pts. Third place went to Andrew McIntyre with 40pts and Andrew Hingston shot 38pts to snatch 4th prize on the countback from 5th placed John Ashenhurst (also 38pts).

The twos club paid out £13.25 each and all monies have been credited to your Pro shop accounts.

Ladies 18 hole stableford (Tuesday 20th April)

Congrats to Bev Russell-Browne who shot 37pts to win this weeks competition. Runner up on the countback with 36pts went to Helen Anderson who pipped 3rd placed Alison Sinnamon (also 36pts).

The draw for the twos paid out £8.50 each.

Ladies 9 hole stableford

Rosemary Hamilton shot a superb 20pts to win this weeks 9 holer with Annie Armstrong runner up with 19pts.

Enter now

Summerfield Cup and Club Mixed Knockout now open to enter in the Pro shop. They are both £10 per pair to enter and the cut off date is Sunday 25th April. Its a great way to meet new members and get some competitive juices flowing.

Saturday tee times

Can I ask anyone with a Saturday tee time to please take their name off the BRS timesheet if they do not intend on playing any Saturday. We have a number of players looking for different times and if everyone manages their time it will help me to fix people up and to help fourballs get a time that suits them.

Ladies competitions

A reminder to the Ladies section that the Wednesday Hat competition and the Sunday sweep is open to all members to enter. So if you fancy another chance to get the handicap cut and to get the competitive juices flowing why not book a tee time and play some golf.

Fitting days coming up at KGC

I’m pleased to inform you of 3 fitting days coming up on our practice ground:

Srixon fitting day - Monday 10th May from 10am-1pm

TaylorMade fitting day - Tuesday 11th May from 12pm-4pm

PING fitting day - Tuesday 18th May from 11am-4pm

I would urge only those members who have a genuine interest in the product and thinking of treating themselves to book a time as demand is high.

Golf on Tour

When it rains it pours...

They say ‘when it rains, it pours’ and Max Kieffer was soaked after sticking three balls in the water on the fifth play-off hole of the European Tour’s Austrian Open. America’s John Catlin proceeded to lift his third trophy in 13 European Tour starts.

On the LPGA Tour, former World No. 1 Lydia Ko stormed her way back into the winning circle with a seven-stroke victory at the Lotte Championship. An emphatic -28 winning score ended the New Zealander’s three-year winless run. We can only wonder what’s to come!

Trailblazing trolleys

I’m sure Tour players appreciate their caddies but they can’t fold their caddies up into a small frame and put them in the boot of the car, can they? Well, they haven’t got everything after all then! The benefits of lasers

We can expect to hear plenty of chatter over the next month about the use of laser rangefinders at the upcoming PGA Championship. Many golfers have already invested in GPS technology to help them tackle the course, but a Bushnell laser might just be the final piece of the jigsaw.
