Message from the Captain Gary Patterson
It’s been a bit of a wait, but finally we are onto the golf course and attempting to get back that wonderful individual golf swing developed over many years of practice. That is surely the intention but maybe at the moment not an instant reality!!! It is just such a relief to get outdoors for exercise and to rekindle those social friendships through golf, that we have not had the chance to enjoy in such a long time. Great to see the real buzz around the pro-shop and putting green with members reconnecting and feeling that sense of getting back slowly to normality. Quite a lot of work has happened on the course during lockdown and the green keepers are just waiting on a bit of long awaited growth to occur, so that the scarring on the course can get a chance to heal. New tee boxes on the 11th and 13th will recover during this process and if tradition remains true, then the month of May will accelerate this repair process and establish the fine fairways and great greens that we all desire. As this golfing season gets underway, Golf Ireland have reintroduced the interclub competitions into the 2021 golfing calendar. We, at Knock Golf Club, have taken the decision to enter into all the competitive team competitions and are looking to the membership to support that decision, by putting your name forward for selection to represent your club. There is no better feeling than being selected to play for your club. Pulling on the shirt and joining your team mates in competition is something that always appealed to me and I invite you to feel the same way, by registering your interest with the team Captains. Check out the information required for each team by looking at the locker room notice board, 1st tee Fitzhugh Hut notice board or ask our club professional who will be aware of the team Captains. You can also register your interest by speaking to me at anytime and I will pass your details on. I wish you all the very best with your 2021 golfing experience at Knock and hopefully sooner rather than later, we can also get to enjoy the clubhouse facilities to their fullest. Kind regards,
Gary Patterson Men’s Golf Captain. |
