Club Competition requirements per Golf Protocols April 2021 Due to additional measures that will need to be implemented to reduce the risk of Covid-19 contamination to members and the Golf committee in marking, returning and processing cards the time taken to post results may be longer than usual (approximately 3 days).
In order for competitions to be run effectively and safely the following process must be followed by all members when playing in Club Competitions.
Failure to follow the Terms of competition will result in disqualification. TERMS OF COMPETITION
? Competition entry must be made in the Pro-shop at time of Check-in and prior to commencement of play.
? Each player takes a scorecard and ensures their full name, Handicap Index, Course handicap, Playing handicap and 4-digit member number is clearly printed on the card or provided on the printed label. The date of play and Competition name should also be identified on the card. Our competition software now includes this information on the printed label. However players should ensure that this is included on cards submitted without the pre-printed label.
? Marking Cards: in all cases the MARKER (playing partner) should enter the player’s scores on a scorecard (it is advisable that each player keep their own score as well as the score of the person they are marking). At the end of the round, the marker should ask the player to verbally certify his/her scores, and then write the player’s name in the player’s signature slot. The marker signs the card in the marker’s signature slot.

? Upload scores using the “How did I do” mobile App OR use the computer touchscreen system at the card box, if this is in operation, ensuring hand sanitization occurs before and after use.
? Score cards are to then be placed in the appropriate card box.
? ALL SCORES MUST BE UPLOADED AND CARDS MUST BE RETURNED regardless of score.
Course Protocols / Local Rules ? Flagsticks MUST remain in the hole and not be touched. ? Preferred lies (six inches) can be taken in Bunkers. Note: Sand must NOT be smoothed before the shot is played ? All other rules of golf and local rules are in play.
Pace of Play & Etiquette ? “Ready Golf” is to be adopted by all golfers playing casual golf, Stoke-play and Stableford competitions. Golfers are expected to take 4 hours or less to complete a round. ? All players are expected to play in the spirit of the game by acting with integrity, showing consideration to others and taking good care of the course. (Rule 1.2)
Eligibility ? Annual subscription and competition entry fee must be paid and the player’s name entered in the Competition Book / Computer BEFORE starting play otherwise the player will be disqualified ? Juniors of 15 handicap or under can, if partnered by an adult, enter all men’s events.
Competition Handicap Allowance - As detailed on the entry/ draw sheet. ? The handicap allowances will normally be automatically calculated by our competition software but members must be aware of, and correctly apply, these allowances in all competitions, whether the computer system is in use or not. They are also to be applied regardless of the Tee Markers that are played from. ? The Committee has posted copies of these new allowances beside the Course Handicap tables situated at the Main Noticeboard, Professionals Shop and Fitzhugh Hut at the 1st Tee. ? Individuals playing in Singles strokeplay or stableford competition will be required to take 95% of their Course handicap. ? If the golfer is playing in a Singles Matchplay competition they will receive 100% of their Course handicap. ? If the golfer is playing in a Fourball Betterball Competition they will receive 90% of their Course Handicap
