A quick Q&A with Knock GC ‘Legend’ Mr Peter Sinclair Question 1: What do you miss most about the club during lockdown? Answer: No Golf, No Food and the big one No Craic. Question 2: What is your favourite hole at Knock and why? Answer: The 15th a demanding tight tree-lined drive and strategic bunkers placed for the approach to a very difficult to read two-tiered green. Question 3: When we do get back to reopening what's the first thing your looking forward to do? Answer: Meet up with friends order an omelette and catch up. Question 4: Who would be your dream fourball past and present? Answer: Past would be Christy O’Connor Snr, David Feherty and Ronan Rafferty as I played with all three and had great craic. My present fourball would be John Rahm, our very own Rory and Padraig Harrington. Question 5: How long have you been a member of Knock Golf club? Answer: 54 years. Question 6: What is your favourite memories of the past 54 years? Answer: My Captains year in 1978, Being President in 2007 & 2008, winning a Junior Cup all Ireland medal for Knock in 1968 at Royal Dublin and becoming President of the GUI in 2017. Question 7: Best experience whilst working with the GUI for all this time. Answer: Definitely attending the US Masters at Augusta National in 2017. Myself and Joan (his wife) had an amazing trip, we attended many dinners (with our US counterparts) in the clubhouse and got to see the whole place up close and meeting Mark O’Meara was also a highlight. A week that will never be forgotten. Question 8: what would you love to change in golf and why? Answer: Slow play is the obvious answer. I would love to stop players from practicing their putting after the hole is finished in matchplay, there is no need for it. Thanks Peter for your time.
