Hatton outshines McIlroy

Rory McIlroy opened the new European Tour season in an all-too-familiar fashion last weekend. The Northern Irishman was part of a fascinating tug-of-war battle with Tyrrell Hatton at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship, only to be completely outplayed by Hatton during the final 18 holes.

Just about every player’s bag was brimming with new, exciting-looking equipment; both Hatton and McIlroy heading into battle with brand-new drivers and fairway woods from their respective brands.

Latest news

I hope your all not too bored in Lockdown. I have been trying to keep busy with exercises. I have taken up running again and I’m trying to get fit for the coming season. I am also doing the 50 a day press up challenge and the 100 a day sit up challenge. These are giving me a target to hit each day and maintaining some sort of self motivation.

The Dubai Desert Classic starts this week, one of the best tournaments on the European Tour. My Tip for this week is Matt Wallace he finished 2nd here in 2019 and with a top 10 last week he’s trending in the right direction. With odds of 22/1 I think he’s good value.

I hope you all keep safe and we will be back on the golf course soon.

I’m looking forward to hitting and fitting the new TaylorMade SIM2 product. I will have an advanced fitting cart for 2021 with a wider choice of shafts and heads to try... they do look ‘shiny!’
