Sunday Sweep results (28th June) 18 holes Stableford

Sunday was a horrible rainy day which led to a small turnout. Norman McKenzie was rewarded for teeing it up by shooting 35pts to win this weeks sweep. Runner up with 34pts went to Brian Graham.

The twos club paid out £12.00 each.

Congrats to Norman and Brian great scores on such a horrible day.

Prudential Trophy (Fri 26th & Sat 27th June) 18 holes Stableford

The great scoring this week was partly down to the smooth greens last weekend with many members commenting on ‘how good the greens were’.

Picking up the trophy this week with 42pts went to Philip Scott. Runner up Gareth McKillen beat 3rd placed Matthew Stuart on the countback with both men shooting 41pts. 4th placed Michael Moore beat 5th placed Tom Hughes on the countback with both shooting 40pts.

The best gross with (+2) 72 Went to Lee Mitchell and the Anno Domini prize went to Ken Lucas with 39pts and the best back 9 prize with a superb 23pts went to Laurence Rankin.

Katie Poots shot 36pts to win last week’s competition. Jill Kennedy shot 34pts to snatch the runner up spot.

The 9 hole competition winner was Sonya Brown and the twos club paid out £16.00.

Dustin Johnson is a remarkable golfer. Sorry for stating the obvious – he is third in the Official World Golf Rankings after all – but his record speaks for itself.

His victory at the weekend was his 21st in total. It was also the 13th season in a row that DJ has won on the PGA Tour. To put that into perspective, only Palmer (17), Nicklaus (17) and Woods (14) boast a better record to start off their careers.

The only question mark hanging over his head is his inability to get over the line in Major championships, with just a sole U.S. Open victory to his name thus far. Maybe the big-hitting American is finding his form at the perfect time with an exciting few months ahead in the world of golf.
