Competition results

Sunday sweep (16 holes stableford played on 1st Dec)

John Lilburn shot a fantastic 38pts to take the winners prize last Sunday. Runner up with 37pts went to Andy Hingston and David Bennett took 3rd prize with 36pts.

Andrew Finlay collected £40 for recording the only two of the day.

Congrats to all the winners!

 

Weekend sweep (14 holes Stableford played over 29th & 30th Nov)

Paul Jackson romped to victory with a fine 31pts, runner up with 28pts went to Raymond Caskey. 3rd placed John Thomson shot 27pts to beat 4th placed Peter McClelland on the countback (also with 27pts).

The best gross with 57 (+1) went to Chris Spence and the twos club paid out £25.33 each.

 

Ladies 12 hole winter stableford

Heather Ward returned from the sun to post 24pts to take the winners prize by two from runner up Susan Craig with 22pts. Third place on the countback went to Aileen Wilson also with 22pts.

The 9 holes prize went to Freda McDonald and Ann Spence won £31 for recording the only two of the day.

 

Woolly hat (14 hole stableford Wed 4th Dec)

Don McKeeman returned to winning ways in a tightly bunched leaderboard. Don shot 31pts to beat runner up Ian Clarke and 3rd placed Ian Killen on the countback, with all three men shooting 31pts. David Cox took 4th prize also on the countback with 28pts.

The twos club paid out £16.66.

New winter rule

The council have decided over the winter period (especially during this very wet period) that when a ball enters a bunker, players can LIFT, RAKE AND PLACE. This way you will be guaranteed a good lie but still have to play out of the bunker.

If you have any questions on this new Local rule give me a buzz at the pro shop.

Children’s Christmas party

The ever-popular Children’s Christmas Party is taking place on Sunday 22nd December. It starts at 3.30pm with Santa making an appearance!

Why not book a table, have a nice lunch and watch the excitement on the little one's faces. Put the names of the children coming up on the noticeboard to let us know numbers. It’s open to members and their guest's children.

Tour news

Another ‘Norn’ Irish golfer to cheer for

It was great to see Johnny Caldwell of Clandeboye Golf Club get through the gruelling examination that is Tour school. He headed to South Africa last week and finished Top 15 in his first tournament back amongst the elite.

I have done some work with Johnny over the years and he is a regular user of the Swing Studio to check his numbers and yardages etc. Great playing Johnny!

So we now have Clarke, Rory, Sharvin, Hoey and Caldwell to look out for each week... not bad for our wee country!

How times have changed

We've got a little task for you. Next time you're down the club on a busy day, have a look around and count how many golfers are using an electric trolley compared to those that aren't. We think the number might surprise you...
