Competition news

August Monthly Tankard

The August Monthly Tankard was played for last weekend with some great scoring. William Steele took the Tankard on countback from runner up Glenn Roberts with both men recording fantastic 40-point rounds. Third place went to Andrew Nixon with 39 points, whilst Robbie Davidson snatched fourth, shooting 38 points to pip Trevor Gilliland on countback (also 38 points). The Best Gross with 71 (+1) went to Jonathan Montgomery and the Anno Domini prize went to Roy Skillen with 36 points.

Category One: David Cook - 37 points
Category Two: John Ashenhurst - 36 points
Category Three: Johnny McCullough - 35 points

The twos club paid out £12.25 each.

Sunday Sweep
Sunday, 11 August

The scoring was once again brilliant on Sunday with Cairan Dinsmore shooting 44 points to win this week. Runner up with 41 points went to Ian Bothwell who pipped third-placed Stephen Hughes (also 41 points) on countback. Fourth place went to Matthew Gibson with 38 points who beat fifth-placed Matt Perry on the countback (also 38 points.

The twos club paid out £6.40 each and all monies have been transferred onto your Pro Shop accounts.

Captains Cup
Sunday, 11 August

The Captains Cup Mixed Greensomes was played for on Sunday with Brian and Alison Sinnamon romping to victory with 40 points. The Sinnamon’s dovetailed beautifully to win by four from runners up Gerry and Linda McWhinney on 36 points.

The twos club paid out £6.00 each.

Junior Competition
Monday, 12 August

Matthew McCrossan played some great golf to shoot 42 points to win this week’s competition by four points from runner up Robbie Davidson on 38 points. Great shooting Matthew.

Titleist Fitting Day

We hosted a Titleist Fitting Day at Knock on Monday with a fully booked day. It was the launch of the new T-series irons and the very first T- series fitting in Ireland. Many members including myself enjoyed the experience and got to look and try out the exceptional offerings from Titleist.

Variety is the spice of life

Whatever happened to having a ‘textbook’ swing? If you were to watch golf on TV you’d see all sorts of different swings that have propelled these golfers to the top of the world, and the same can be said on the greens too.
