The healing process is in full swing
Lee and his team put in a superhuman effort this weekend to scarify the 18 greens on the course and both putting greens...WHY NOW I HEAR YOU SAY!
We are doing it now to rejuvenate the greens mid-season to make them less susceptible to disease and once healed make them a bit slicker. By doing it now they will heal relatively quickly due to high temperatures and plenty of growth, it will also mean we will not be doing it late in the season meaning we could have handicap qualifying extended into late Sept/Oct depending on weather conditions. I had a putt on a few of the greens on Tuesday and the healing process is in full swing

Junior Summer Camps
Now that all the schools are closed for summer, Nick, our Assistant PGA Professional is running Golf Summer Camps. The first started on Wednesday, 3 July with the next session on Friday, 5 July for 4-6-year olds. This is a chance to get your children into the game of golf with Juniors of a similar age group. With juniors, it’s about having fun, learning and ultimately doing this in a safe environment. I will cover all the different areas of the game from putting to using the driver. Please find attached a poster detailing all the other camps running throughout the summer months. Click here for more information. If you would like to book your child/children onto any of the camps please contact the Pro Shop. If these dates did not suit give us a call and we will try and accommodate. (They don’t need to be a member) |

Nick passes with flying colours
A big congratulations to Nick my Assistant PGA Professional. He has successfully passed his year two exams with flying colours. He has worked hard to pass this year especially adjusting to a new position. Congrats, Nick, I know how labour intensive year two PGA Exams are, one more year to go sir.

Putting things right Sometimes, it's the most obvious things that get overlooked. When it comes to golf, the club most used in a round is a putter so surely it's the part of the game that deserves most attention? We know this isn't a reality for many, but a combination of working hard on your stroke and having a putter that is suited to your stroke type will certainly improve your chances on the greens - two things that this promotion is all about. Reading between the lines |
One of the hardest things in golf is green reading; it is also something that the majority of golfers never learn how to do properly. So, without giving away all the secrets, here are some handy tips to help keep you on track and hole more putts. |
High and low Prior to reaching the green, take note of the high and low points of the surface and where your ball lies in respect to these. This will help you to build a general picture before reaching your ball. 360 picture
If you’re struggling to read which way your putt breaks from behind the ball, try walking around to the other side of the hole as this can often highlight any breaks you may have missed or reaffirm your original read. Utilise our expertise
To really master the art of putting, book a coaching session with us and benefit from our years of experience as PGA professionals. Here we will teach you the in-depth steps to improving your green reading skills.
