Competition news

PGA Tankard

The PGA Tankard was played for this weekend with Neil Warburton taking the spoils with a brilliant 42 points. Second prize went to Marc Lawson with 38 points, third placed Ben Graham beat fourth placed Len Carson on the better back nine (both recording 37 points). Fifth prize went to Pat Davis with 36 points. The best gross with 70 (level par) went to James McVicker and Ronnie Andrews won the Anno Domini with 34 points.

Cat 2 winner - Lionel Walsh- 36 points
Cat 2 BB9 - Stephen McCracken- 21 points

The twos club paid out £14.26 and all winnings have been added to your Pro Shop accounts.

Congratulations to Neil on a great score, Neil now joins me at the Regional final later in the year at Warrenpoint Golf Club.

Sunday Sweep
Sunday, 19 May

This week’s winner with 40 points was Gary Boyd, Stephen Cairns snatched runner up with 38 points on countback from third placed Gareth Howes (also 38 points). Chris Mawhinney took fourth spot with 37 points.

The twos club paid out £14.60 each and all monies have been added to your Pro Shop accounts.

Fred Daly Team march on

On Sunday I travelled to watch the second leg of the Fred Daly. The young lads played solidly to get through to the next round. A special mention to Charlie Parke who won 8&7, he played superbly and showed real class. Congratulations team.

Ladies 18 Hole Stableford

The ladies played in some much-needed sunshine with Ann Spence shooting 40pts to win by six. Jacki Sloan took second on countback from Eve McCracken both recording 34 points. Jacki had more to celebrate as she lifted £42.00 for recording the only two of the day.

Verna Caldwell continues her dominance of the nine hole comp by taking victory with 14 points she pipped runner up Ann Morrison on the countback (also 14 points).

Early bird catches the worm

It’s always nice to see the sprinklers in action. I took this picture early this morning before the Captains Prize for ladies, the course was looking superb.

Divots, divots, divots

We are planning to fill in and repair as many divots as possible on Thursday, 30 May. All help would be greatly appreciated. Simply turn up at 9:00am and pitch in, the whole process should take approximately two hours depending on numbers.

We look forward to seeing many of you on the day.

Junior Golf Camps

Here at Knock Golf Club we value the importance of growing the game in the next generation. Our Junior Camps give kids the chance to learn about golf in a relaxed environment with other kids their age. We will run through the basics of putting, chipping, full swing and some fundamental movement skills helping overall co-ordination. Our Junior Camps will run in July and August with the available dates below:

July:
- Wednesday, 3 and Friday, 5 (4-6 years old) 10:00am - 12:00pm

- Monday, 8 and Tuesday, 9 (7-10 years old) 10:00am - 1:00pm

- Wednesday, 17 and Friday, 19 (11-14 years old) 10:00am - 1:00pm

August:
- Wednesday, 7 and Friday, 9 (over 14s) 10:00am - 1:00pm

- Monday, 26 and Tuesday, 27 (open to all) 10:00am - 1:00pm

Two day camps is only £30 per child.

Most overlooked club in the bag?
