Challenge Cup Qualifying
The first strokeplay event of the year took place last weekend with the high turnout competing for the Challenge Cup Qualifying. 62 places plus best gross were on offer (defending champion S. Finlay was exempt) with the final cut coming at nett 75.
The overall winner with a nett 68 was Andrew Sutherland, second place to fifth place was separated on countback with Andrew Nixon second, Kelvin Swaffield third, Chris Spence fourth and Andrew Jones fifth, all four men recording nett 69s. The best gross with 71(+1) went to Simon Miskelly and the Anno Domini prize went to Michael Browne with 74.

Sunday Sweep
Sunday, 12 May
Junior Captain Scott McOuat took top spot this week with 39 points whilst Matthew Gibson finished runner up on 38 points. Chris Mawhinney took third prize with 37 points and Gareth Howes snatched fourth place on countback with 36 points.

Denise Donald Salver
The ladies played for the Denise Donald Salver on Tuesday, an 18-hole stroke play competition. Hilary Graham shot a nett 73 to win the competition with Rosanne Fulton 74 taking second ahead of Aileen Wilson who finished third with a nett 76. Verna Caldwell continues her good form to win the 9 Hole Prize with 19 points with Brenda Hawthorne second on 15 points. There was a draw for the twos with Carole Hunter, Susan Craig, Patricia Jordan and Elizabeth Reid each winning £11.75 per two.

PGA Tankard
This weekend’s competition is the PGA Tankard. The winner gets a day at the Regional PGA Tankard Finals playing with me and the lady winner in a pro-am format (venue still to be confirmed. Good luck to all competing. |
New 9 hole Qualifying Competition begins The NEW 9-hole Qualifying competition that will be held on Thursdays, has now started! - This competition is Open to ALL 7- and 6-day members, male and female. Juveniles can also enter but - must have a playing handicap of 15 or less
- The competition can be played at any time during the day over the front nine holes
- The format will be Stableford points
- Entry fee will be £4.00
- Prizes will be dependent upon the number of entrants. The more who play, the better the prize fund
The aim of this competition is to provide all members with another opportunity to play a handicap qualifying competition. It is specifically intended for:
- Those who only have the time to play 2 hours / 9 holes
- Senior / Veteran members who prefer to play only 9 holes rather than a full 18
- Those who enjoy midweek 9 holes
- Young improving members who can play a competition after school
Times can be booked via BRS or the Pro-Shop as normal.

A quick reminder
The course is playing great at present, we have received some wonderful compliments from visiting golfers. May I ask all members to fix pitchmarks and rake bunkers, it makes all the difference to everyone’s enjoyment. |

Junior Golf Camps Here at Knock Golf Club we value the importance of growing the game in the next generation. Our Junior Camps give kids the chance to learn about golf in a relaxed environment with other kids their age. We will run through the basics of putting, chipping, full swing and some fundamental movement skills helping overall co-ordination. Our Junior Camps will run in July and August with the available dates below: July:
- Wednesday, 3 and Friday, 5 (4-6 years old) 10:00am - 12:00pm - Monday, 8 and Tuesday, 9 (7-10 years old) 10:00am - 1:00pm - Wednesday, 17 and Friday, 19 (11-14 years old) 10:00am - 1:00pm
August:
- Wednesday, 7 and Friday, 9 (over 14s) 10:00am - 1:00pm - Monday, 26 and Tuesday, 27 (open to all) 10:00am - 1:00pm
Two day camps is only £30 per child.
