Club news

The Irish Junior Open

The Irish Junior Open Tour took place at Knock GC on Monday with almost 80 U18's taking part.

The tournament was a huge success and doesn’t the course look great from overhead.

In memory of Brian

Maude Slieth donated a chair in memory of her late husband Brian Slieth.

At the corner of the putting green closest to the car park, take a look at the gorgeous chair Maude has kindly donated in memory of Brian an ex Captain and President of Knock GC, who played for 72 years at Knock and will be sadly missed but fondly remembered.

It’s a lovely touch Maude.

And the winner is...

Congratulations to Dominic Doherty who was the winner of the Pro Shop U.S Masters sweepstake.

Dominic was lucky enough to pick out Tiger Woods in the draw and is pictured here collecting his prize.

Competition news

Sunday Sweep

Matthew Gibson took top spot with 39 points with runner up Tim Linter beating third placed Jamie Ashenhurst on the countback with both men recording 38 points.

Congratulations goes to Neil Adamson, pictured here, who recorded his first ever hole in one at the 4th hole where he hit a 52 degree wedge into the hole.

The twos club paid out £6.00 each and the C.S.S was 71.

The Michael Rooney Trophy

The Michael Rooney Trophy was played for last weekend with more spectacular scoring. Collecting the trophy this week is Peter Johnston with 42 points. Runner up with 41 points went to John Johnston. Third place on the countback went to Stephen Rogan who beat forth placed Stephen Finlay and fifth placed Brian G McCullough, all three shooting 38 points.

Simon Miskelly shot 68 (-2) to win the best gross and John Thomson won the Anno Domini prize with 35 points.

Cat 3 winner - Sam Lemon 38 points

Ladies Easter Timesheet

Dorothy Brown won this weeks event with 38 points. Runner up with 37 points went to Katie Poots and Eve McCracken took third prize with 36 points. Elaine Hanna shot 20 points to win the 9 holer competition.

Sinead Murray cashed out with a massive £42.00 for recording the only two of the day. Congratulations to all the winners.

Easter Camp

Nick organised an Easter Camp for juniors this week. The numbers where small but they all had great fun.

If you have any interest in organising lessons for juniors or cadets, click here to get in touch.

The next camps will take place in the summer and will last up to six weeks.

Knowledge is power

It's one of the most glorious times of the year to be playing golf and no doubt you have noticed that more and more players are taking to the course. So, what better time than now for a quick brush up of your knowledge to make sure you don't fall foul of the updated Rules of Golf?

Here are some of the key rules that were updated for 2019:

Drop the ball from knee height NOT shoulder height
If you accidently move your ball while searching for it you can replace it with no penalty
In bunkers, you can now move loose impediments
Shoe damage on the greens can now be repaired
Search time reduced from five minutes to three
You can now putt with the flag in without penalty
