I hope you all had a fantastic week on and off the golf course and welcome to a new edition of our weekly newsletter, keeping you up to date with the latest news within the walls of Knock Golf Club.
Enjoy this week's read! |
The weather plays havoc
The weather has played havoc with the fixtures last weekend, we managed to get nine holes open on Saturday from 11.00am and Ian Barr took top spot with 18 points. Clifford Kennedy snatched second prize with 14 points.
On Sunday we managed to get 18 holes open from 10.00am and some mad golfers took to the course. Andrew Finlay took the spoils with 35 points and Garth Howes took runner up spot with 34 points. Garth took £12.00 for recording the only two of the day.
I’m not sure if the Sunday players are keen or just mad but fair play to the players that stayed out and to Andrew and Garth, unbelievable scores in that weather sirs.

Saturday tee times and competitions
The draws for Saturday tee times went well last Sunday, the times are now posted on the BRS system online. Can I remind everyone who is not using their time to take their name off the sheet making it easier for others to get out. It’s never been easier to manage the bookings and is available 24/7. For those looking to add their name to a fourball or for a player who needs to get out later or earlier in any given week PLEASE get in touch and I will do my best to accommodate requests. |
The seasons starts early
The ladies competitive season starts early with the Australian Spoons competition being played last Tuesday, an 18-hole Greensomes event. Rosemary Hamilton and Ann Morrison took top spot on the countback from runners up Susan Craig and Beverley Russell-Browne, both teams recording 30 points. The 9-hole competition winner was Verna Caldwell with 11 points. There was a draw for the twos money with Aileen Wilson, Heather Kane, Valerie Blackburne and Vivien Allen being the lucky winners (each lady won £8 each). All monies have been transferred into your Pro Shop accounts.

The North Down Alliance is a long-established association of approximately 50 ladies with handicaps ranging from single figures to 18. The ladies come from 10 different clubs and meet for five, 18-hole competitions during the winter. President’s Day was held last Monday, 4 March on a wet and muddy Shandon course where Alison Sinnamon secured fourth place. Congratulations to Alison and also to Lynne Anderson and Helen Anderson who were prize winners at Kirkistown and Knock GC.

Thank you Ian
I have a new Assistant Professional starting next week (more about him in next week’s newsletter). I would like to say a huge THANKYOU to Ian who has been my right-hand man for the last four years in the Pro Shop. Ian has been a great help to me and Rachel during the turbulent time of Rachel’s pregnancy and the premature births, He was always a phone call away and for that I want to thank him. It’s not a goodbye to Ian as he will still be helping out in the Pro Shop from time to time but I’m sure like me we will all miss Ian behind the counter. THANKYOU for all your help!

Motocaddy has always been at the forefront of trolley innovation, with the world's first GPS electric trolley amongst their ranks. Well, this year they’ve made some significant upgrades to the immensly popular S1 model, which we think you're going to love. |
| New Motocaddy S1 electric trolley (2019) |
|
We don't like using the term 'entry level' to describe the new S1 as it offers so much more than what this suggests. At first glance, you'll take a liking to its modernised styling and graphics, which will really help make it stand out from other trolleys on the market. Then you get to its technology: new and improved sunlight-friendly LCD display, nine speed settings, advanced battery meter so you needn't worry about it running out mid-round without knowing, and a super-lightweight Lithium battery to name but a few. The new S1 for 2019 is as good as it gets at this price point, so pop in-store to take a look and get one in your hands. |
