Welcome to another exciting edition to Knock Golf Club's weekly newsletter. We hope that you're having a good week on and off the golf course. Enjoy the read. |
Heavy rains don't stop play!
Pictured below is the car park at 9.30pm last Friday just after the heavy rains. The river at the 10th burst its banks.
A huge well done to Lee and his team for getting the course open for play on the Saturday, one of the few parklands to get open. It’s testament to the sanding we do every year to improve drainage.

We're working on it!
The influx of emails into your inbox will now stop, Kevin Taggart our tech wizard has been working hard to find a way to put the Saturday Winter tee sheets onto the BRS computer system. If you log in and go to a Saturday you will see at the top right hand the 1st and 10th tee options, we now have the tee times online.
So, just like in the summer months if you are not able to play please take your name of the sheet so others can get out if needed. Again, apologies for all the emails as testing was taking place, well done Mr Taggart, great job!

Back to back wins! I travelled to Ardglass Golf Club on Monday to compete in the PGA Ulster Alliance. It was a cold and blustery day but it stayed dry. I played a very solid round where I shot a 65 (-5) and won the event by two shots. I would like to thank my team Gary Patterson, Simon Swail and Harry McKee for the game - we dove-tailed well to share top spot in the team event with 92 points. |
It never gets cold at Knock GC

When you're playing golf during the winter, your shots don't carry as far or roll out as much as they would in the summer. It's just a fact of life. It also means that judging distances to the green becomes a lot trickier, with many amateur golfers coming up a little short with approach shots. Have you noticed this trend in your own game recently? |
| Step 1: Gapping session Well, if you come and see us for a gapping session, we can work out the exact yardage that you hit each club in your bag, making finding the green more often a reality. However, you won't realise the benefits of knowing your distances unless you know how far you need to hit the ball, something that a Garmin GPS device will certainly help with. |
| Step 2: Garmin GPS device The Approach S10 is the perfect solution to your yardage woes. Featuring a high-sensitivity GPS receiver, the S10 will give you the distance data you need to play better golf (front, middle and back as well as hazards and doglegs). This technology is there to help you, so make sure you're taking full advantage like most other golfers are! |
