Captain's Charity Day
Under two weeks to go until this year’s Captain’s Charity Day which will take place on Friday, 31 August. Last year’s event which was arranged at very short notice raised over £3,500 for MacMillan Nurses, and this year our goal is to raise at least £7,000 with proceeds to be divided equally between Marie Curie and MacMillan Nurses.
There cannot be very many of our members who are not familiar with the work of both of these organisations and the wonderful job they do in caring for the terminally ill and in the support, they give to their families, and I hope that you will give your support to our fundraising efforts. As with last year the centrepiece will be a fourball team competition open to teams of four (obviously) which may be all male, all female or mixed male and female, members and non-members alike. The entry fee for each team will be £100 and times may be reserved in the Pro Shop (02890 483825). The entry fee includes a meal (served all day) and entertainment in the evening.
We are running a lottery with a gauranteed 15 prizes and first prize of £1000. Entries can be made at the Bar for £10, half of which will go directly to the charities. If you are unable to play on the you might consider sponsoring a hole at the cost of £100. Finally, in support of the charities, our greens convenor, Chris Moutray has offered to sacrifice his crowning glory - his flowing locks and will make the sacrifice on the evening of the 31. If you wish to sponsor Chris’s efforts you will find a gift aid sponsorship form in the office where Anne and Barbara will be pleased to receive your donation.
We look forward to seeing so many of you on what will be a fantastic day. |
