Club news

President's Day

The prize cabinet for Presidents Prize is bulging with lots of goodies.

The winner this weekend will walk away with a Motocaddy M1 Pro Lithium trolley with travel cover! Runners up prize is the latest WTX GPS watch from GolfBuddy, a Titleist Cart Bag for third and a pair of Sketcher shoes for fourth.

There is the section prizes and all the other prizes on offer. Good luck to all involved.

The great run continues

Pictured below is Maureen Wilson (left)who won the Past Captains Cup last Thursday with 33 points over the 16 holes.

Runner up went to Denise Moore (right). Congrats Maureen, the great run continues.

August Tankard

Last weekend we played for August Tankard with plenty of great scoring again. Lee Whitley took the spoils with a fine 41 points which pipped runner up James McVicker also 41 points on the countback. Third place went to Brian Long, and fourth place on the countback with 38 points went to Colin Petrie who beat fifth placed Gary Boyd on the countback, also 38 points.

The best gross with 71 (+1) went to Ross Latimer and President Drew Blackburn won the Anno Domini prize with 38 points.

Category One winner - Richard Lucas 38 points
Category Two winner - Keith Howe 37 points
Category Three winner - Earle Brown 38 points

The twos paid out £20.44 each and all monies have been transferred to your Pro Shop accounts.

Some great stories this week as the winner Lee Whitley had a lesson on club path last week. Also wins for Colin Petrie and Earle Brown who purchased new clubs last week…Coaching and equipment can definitely help your game. A special mention to James McVicker his 41 points was a gross 65. Great scoring sir!

Captains Cup

The Captains Cup Mixed Greensomes was played on Sunday with Lady Captain Helen Anderson and Tom Anderson taking home the trophy with 40 points. They won on the countback from Gary and Noreen Kennedy (also 40 points) with George and Irene Reid third with 39 points.

The twos paid out £28 each and all monies have been transferred into your Pro Shop accounts.

Sunday Sweep results

Brian Graham returned to the winner’s circle with a fine 40 points to pip runner up Katie Poots (also 40 points) on the better back nine. Third place went to Tim Linter 38 points who edged out fourth placed Ian McClure (also 38 points) on the countback.

The twos club paid out £6.80 each and all monies have been transferred to your Pro shop accounts.

Thursday, 9 August

1st - Jared Magee - 39 points
2nd - Charlie Parke - 35 points

Monday, 13 August

1st - Rory Bennett - 38 points
2nd - Matthew Gibson - 37 points

Junior competitions take place every Thursday and Sunday and if we have demand also on Mondays.

Ladies ILGU Medal

The ladies played an ILGU Medal stroke competition on Tuesday with ‘Mighty Mouse’ Ann Mcivor running away with the medal with a fine 70. Runner up went to Aileen Wilson 74 and third place on the countback went to Hilary Graham with a 75.

No twos were recorded but Hazel Barr, Jane Gibson and Rosie Clements picked up £9.66 in the card draw. Congrats to Ann, great score, especially in strokeplay!

Ladies 9 Hole

Maud Sleith returned to the winners circle this week with 17 points to win the 9 hole prize.

The Boys Amateur Championship

I travelled to Royal Portrush on Monday to coach some clients playing in the Boys Amateur. The course was amazing and the tournament set up was amazing.

It looked and felt like a ‘Tour event’. If any members are up there this week pop over and have a look, the stars of the future are on show.
