DavidCongratulations to David Hay who won the PGA Tankard with a brilliant score of 42 points. David now plays with myself in the National PGA Tankard Finals later in the year. Professional's Prize For The Ladies

After some heavy showers in the morning, the ladies section enjoyed warm sunshine to compete in my Pro's Prize. I was delighted that 'Lady' Jane Gibson won my prize with 36 points, second was Sharon Crozier (34 points, BB9) and in third was Eileen McKay (34 points). Full results were as follows:

Best Gross - Alison Sinnamon (29 points).
Best Front Nine - Ann Morrison (20 points).
Best Back Nine - Christine Owens (20 points).
Nine Holers - Doreen McVitty (17 points).
Nearest The Pin At The 12th - Alison Sinnamon.

The only two of the day went to Sharon Crozier who collected a whopping 27 balls. I would like to thank Alison the Lady Captain and her husband Brian who treated myself and Ian to a lovely meal before the prizegiving, it was fantastic and the banter was great. Once again congratulations to 'Lady' Jane. I look forward to playing with you in the National Tankard Finals later in the year. Congratulations to all the other winners and thanks for all the support over the year.

Ladies Challenge Team - Return Match Knock vs. Ballyliffin

8:00am and the course is closed, it's the last day this match can be played... Call to the pro shop, Ricky speaks with Lee and the stars that they are arrange to look after us "special ladies" the course will be opened for us and the match can go ahead. 2:00pm tee off and Knock went out with a strong team of Noreen Kennedy, Rosemary Hamilton, Sharon Fulton, Rosemary Green and Judith Reid. We went into this four matches and 13 holes down, however we were confident we could do it as we knew the Ballyliffin ladies would struggle at Knock just as we had at Ballyliffin with gale force winds on the day of the match.

Well done to Jill Kennedy winning her match that day, her first club appearance and matchplay game. Cost me a bottle of wine if she came in with the same ball and she did! Also thanks to Shelagh Boucher who enabled the team to play and despite her tennis elbow played for me at Ballyliffin and to Emmeline who was a warrior at Ballyliffin keeping down the holes. The two Rosemary's the team backbone - great job! A hard fought battle resulted in the team winning by seven holes and off to Moyola and the second round. I would also like to thank our Captain Alison and so many of the Knock ladies that supported the team at home on the 15th, your presence really spurred the team on.

Elaine Morrow.

Club event

Club Fundraising Event

Last Thursday Knock hosted a fundraising day for our Greenkeeper Alan Patterson. After a freak accident Alan has no movement from the waist down. Pictured below is Alan with his future in laws and a photo of the Captain's fourball consisting of Neil Adamason, Trevor Ward and Dougie Browne (Dream Team). The day was a huge success raising £12,000 for Alan. I got to speak with Alan and his attitude and courage is amazing. He was taken back by the support for him and loved seeing all his hockey friends. A big thank you goes to Tom Reid who was a Chief Organizer for the event and to everyone who supported the day. The feedback from the many visitors was very positive regarding the course and catering.

Course news

Course Update

On Wednesday the turf arrived for the newly constructed winter tees at the third and sixth holes. A good quality hard wearing turf was purchased and Lee and his team worked hard to lay out the turf. These areas will be GUR for a short time until the turf is established. I for one will enjoy not having mats to hit off!
