Weekend Sweep
The Weekend Sweep (16 Holes Stableford) was played last Friday and Saturday. The overall winner, fresh from some South African sun, was Colin Fairweather with a flawless score of 38 points. Colin shot -8 gross to pip Brian McCullough on the better back nine. The best gross with 60 (-2) went to James McVicker and the Anno Domini prize went to Don Wright Snr with 33 points. Full results were as follows:
Division One - First place - Ryan Warburton (35 points, BB9) and in second place - Neil Warburton (35 points). Division Two - First place - Ronan Henry (37 points, BB9) and in second place - Peter Law (37 points). Division Three - First place - Brian McCullough (38 points) and in second place - Brian McCullough (34 points, BB9). The twos club paid out £12.46 each and all monies have been added to your pro shop accounts. All the best to Colin Fairweather as he travels to Seville this week to compete in the Spanish Amateur Championship.
Winter League
The Winter League is now over and was a fantastic success this year with 18 consecutive weeks taking place. As usual the prize winners were all very close. A big congratulations goes to this year's winner and defending champion Stephen Hughes who amassed 354 points. Don't worry Stephen, the Handicap Sec has an eye on you! It's a great achievement to win it again.
Click here for a full list of prize winners. Again next week we will be playing a 16 Hole Sweep on the Friday and Saturday. Depending on weather and course conditions we are striving to have an 18 Hole Stableford sweep running ASAP.
Ladies Competition
The ladies competition on Tuesday was affected by the weather. Susan Craig got her reward by staying out in the horrific conditions to snatch first prize. Rosemary Green was the lucky person drawn out for the twos club picking up £4. Let's hope for better weather next week.
Coming Up...
This weekend Friday/Saturday we will be running a 16 Hole Stableford Sweep with the winter time sheet in operation. On Sunday a separate Sunday Sweep will be played over 18 holes.
Winter League Dinner
A reminder that the Winter League Dinner is taking place on Friday, 31 March at 7pm. Players wishing to attend should enter their names and team numbers on the sheet on the noticeboard.
Ladies Winter League Dinner
I meandered into the dinning area on Tuesday evening after a meeting in the club to see Lady Captain, or should I say 'Little Willy Winkie' (pictured) making a speech at the Ladies Winter League Dinner. The theme was nursery rhymes and everybody seemed to be having great fun. May I wish all the ladies section a successful and happy golfing season ahead.
