MS Society Charity Golf Day
On Thursday, 2 June we held a Charity Golf Day at Knock, organised by Eric McMinnis, with all proceeds going to the MS Society. 83 golfers took part in a shotgun start competing for both team and individual prizes in glorious sunshine. 100 golfers and guests also stayed for the dinner afterwards.
The overall team prize was won by Alan Skate's team. One of the team prizes was a "Yellow Ball Competition". Even with an explanation of the rules many of the golfers had great difficulty grasping the concept, but it proved to be very popular none-the-less and became a major topic of conversation in the clubhouse afterwards. The event was won by David Johnson's team. The men's prize was won by Paul Burrows and the ladies prize went to Kathryn Wilson. Richard Wallace and John Dynes, both from Kirkistown Castle, were the only two golfers out of 65 taking part who managed to "Beat the Pro" at the 12th hole.
Special thanks must go to our main sponsor for the day Ipower who had the following to say: "I'd like to thank the Captain and Council of Knock, Ricky our Pro, all golfers who participated on the day, hole sponsors, donators of prizes, dinner guests and anyone else who assisted in making the Golf day a success". £15,250 in total was raised on the day and the money will go towards MS Research in Belfast.
Adult and Junior Competition
On Friday, 19 August we will be running the adult and junior competition. Tee times can be booked from 4pm online or in the pro shop. Any parents who are not members are more than welcome to compete in the event, or if any adult has a junior in mind to invite along to play that would be great. It's a fun evening so the more the merrier.
Team News
On Saturday, 30 July at Co Armagh, the local team managed to gain their two matches which put an end to our marvelous ladies minor team's great run. Congratulations to all the team including the subs who made it possible for the team to get so far, super achievement, perhaps the semis next year...

A big congratulations to Eve who had a lesson last Thursday in which we sorted out some basic postural faults and re-shafted her 3-wood. It's nice to see her effort being rewarded.
