Congratulations...
Congratulations to our member Peter Waddell, pictured center, who captained the Ulster U18 boys team to interprovincial success at Tullamore last week. Peter puts a lot of hard work into his role as Team Captain and is just reward for his efforts. Well done Peter.
Reggie Spratt Trophy
The gents played for the Reggie Spratt Trophy this weekend, an 18 hole stableford tournament. 40 points was the magic number for Peter Armstrong to win the trophy, hard to believe I know. The best gross with 70 went to James McVicker and the Anno Domini winner was Don McKeeman with 37 points. Full results are as follows:
Division One - First place - Trevor Gilliland (39 points) and in second place - Jonathan Finlay (38 points).
Division Two - First place - Neil McCread (38 points) and in second place - John Cairnduff (37 points).
Division Three - First place - Laurence Rankin (38 points, bb9) and in second place - Richard Hodgett (38 points).
Division Four - First place - Chris Berry (39 points) and in second place - Alan Skates (38 points).
The twos club paid out a massive £19.30 per two and all monies have been added to your pro shop accounts.
Centenary Trophy
The juniors played on Sunday for the Centenary Trophy with Jared Magee scoring a brilliant 42 points, he pipped Matthew Gibson who had 41 points into second place.
Sunday Sweep
The Sunday Sweep was won by Simon Swail with 41 points, second place went to Ian McClure on 39 points. Third place went to Ian McKeown with 38 points and James McVicker again captured the best gross with a 70. The twos club paid £8 per two and all monies have been added to your pro shop accounts. A reminder that the Sunday Sweep is now a handicap qualifying event over 18 holes and is open to men, ladies and junior players. It would be nice to see some ladies entering and it also gives you all another chance to enter a handicap qualifying event.
Ladies Open
The ladies had an 'open' teams of three event on Tuesday with 84 ladies competing. The format was the best two scores to count on each hole. The trio of Elaine Morrow, Beverley Russell-Browne and Lesley Anderson won with 81 points. Second place went to Jill Adrain, Hilary Graham and Carol Hunter with 78 points. Third place went to the team of Mildred Hodgett, Maybel Crawford and Gail McNabb with 77 points. The twos club paid out £12 per two and all monies have been transferred to your pro shop accounts. All the visitors enjoyed the day with many commenting on how good the course looked.
Glenn travells to Troon...
What an experience Glenn McCreery had two weeks ago at Troon. Glenn, a member of our Fred Daly team, was lucky enough to carry the scoreboard in Rory's group. Behind the ropes at the Open with that group must of been a magnificent experience. Glenn had a great time at the event and I'm sure he witnessed some awesome shot making as well.
U.S Kids Golf World Championship
What a trip away awaits young Katie Poots next week. Katie has qualified to play in the U.S Kids Golf World Championship at the renowned Pinehurst Golf Club in North Carolina USA. Pictured is Katie wearing an outfit for the tournament sponsored by the generosity of the ladies section of Knock Golf Club.
Enjoy the experience Katie and good luck.
TaylorMade Fitting Day
On Monday I arranged for TaylorMade golf to come to our practice ground for a fitting day. I filled all 10 slots available and every member enjoyed the experience, even Peter Armstrong could hit the new M1 driver in the air! Some players gained up to 28 yards by changing lofts and shafts! The FlightScope launch monitor was also in operation along with the fitter's keen eye, knowledge and experience. The equipment on show is pictured below. If you need any information and or advice on the new TaylorMade equipment pop in store or click here to send us an email. Keep an eye on future newsletters as I have a Mizuno fitting day coming up later this year.
