Pictured is the victorious Barton Shield Team after a great win against our arch rivals Shandon Park. The team of Colin Fairweather and Michael Sinclair our first pairing put on a golfing clinic to win by a massive six holes. Mark McMurray and Simon Miskelly had a great tussle in the second match going four holes down meaning Knock was victorious by two holes and now head to Portstewart for the Ulster Section Semis and final later next month. In the morning both pairings dove tailed brilliantly to defeat Clandeboye by four holes. Both pairing finished two holes up each. Congratulations to team Captain Mervyn Perry and the lads. Heroic Henrik
The golf world has run out of superlatives for Henrik Stenson, who claimed his first Major title at Royal Troon last weekend - what a final round we were treated to. Has there ever been a more impressive final round in Open Championship history?
Both the Swede and 2013 Open champion, Phil Mickelson carded 63s around the famous links, but it was Stenson - who shot his 63 on Sunday - who prevailed, despite the American posting a hugely impressive 65.
On any other day, Mickelson would have been celebrating his sixth Major. To put their scoring into perspective, Mickelson (-17) finished three shots shy of Stenson but 11 clear of JB Holmes in solo third.
It was a two-horse race for the Claret Jug before they teed off on Sunday, but few people could have expected them to surge further clear in the manner they did. If you've been on holiday and haven't checked out the highlights yet, be sure to do so, it was something else.
Hopefully that's got the juices flowing for many of you to get out and play, no doubt these two super pros have inspired many young golf fans watching on, it really was sport at its very best.
So, three down, one to go… that's the PGA Championship next week.
Throw in the Olympics and the Ryder Cup and there's still a lot of fantastic golf to look forward to. If they're half as entertaining as events at Royal Troon, we're in for a treat.
If you have been inspired to get out and improve your game during this weekend's action then get in touch here and we can book a session in to help you on your way.
This week is meant to be superb so come down and enjoy the sunshine.
