Saturday Live at Knock Golf Club
We have a fantastic evening of entertainment coming up next Saturday, 16 July at Knock Golf Club. All members are invited to come along to "your" club and enjoy the music provided by the "Clubsound" singer and guitarist Jimmy Black.
The music starts at 7.30am and plays until 11pm and includes Classic, Motown, Rock, 80's and much more. Grab your other half, contact a family member or a group of friends and come along to your club for a meal or just a drink and have a great evening of chat and entertainment.
Bar promotions of beer in a bucket, cocktails and spirit promos are there for your enjoyment. Book a table with the club caterer and enjoy a meal from the "Steak Night Menu". We look forward to seeing you there.
Junior Captain's Day
Scott McQuat was the winner of Junior Captain's Day (pictured) as he shot a brilliant 45 points. Scott has been working very hard on the range so I'm delighted for him. Second place went to the red hot Jonny Linter (42 points, a 67 gross) and he also had three twos! Third place went to Sam Kennedy (36 points) who beat Johnny McCracken (fourth) on the better back nine. I know the juniors appreciated Michael Browne's prizes.
David Alderdice Trophy
Saturday brought such heavy rain that the course was closed for just over an hour. After the rain delay the course drained very quickly and the players got back out to compete in the stableford competition. The big winner with 41 points was Andy Jones. The best gross with a 73 went to Trevor Gilliland and the Anno Domini prize went to Peter McNamee with 32 points. Full results were as follows:
Division One - First place - David McCluskey (39 points) and in second place - Chris Moutray (38 points).
Division Two - First place - David Bennett (39 points) and in second place - Brian Ross (36 points).
Division Three - First place - David White (37 points) and in second place - Laurence Rankin (33 points, bb9).
Division Four - First place - Dougie Brown (34 points) and in second place - Sam Gilmer (33 points).
The twos club paid out £17.75 each and all monies have been transferred to your pro shop accounts.
Ladies 18 Hole Stableford
The Ladies 18 Hole Stableford on Tuesday was won by Joan Sinclair with 35 points. Beverley Russell-Browne took second place with 33 points and Sharon Crozier edged out Jane Gibson to snatch third on the better back nine with 32 points. The twos club paid out £9 per two and all monies have been transferred to your pro shop accounts.
Sunday Sweep
The Sunday Sweep 18 hole Stableford points competition will from Sunday, 17 July be a handicap qualifying competition. You can play anytime on a Sunday and all scores MUST be entered into the computer.
Rain delays procedures...
Over the last few weeks the heavy showers have made the course temporarily unplayable. With the sound of the klaxon (three long blasts) you can either mark your ball where it lies or finish out the hole your playing. When the water drains and becomes playable I will sound the klaxon and players resume from where they left off. Saturday was the perfect example of how quickly the course can flood, BUT, also how quickly it became playable again. Within 50 minutes play resumed and although not perfect, the greens became playable.
There is no one set rule book to playing golf...
Pictured below is the top three golfers in this year's U.S. Open; Dustin, Jim and Shane. From a coaching point of view I love this picture as it shows that there is many different ways to play this great game. There is NO 'right' or 'wrong' and a textbook on how to play the game does not exist!
If you need any help with your game or your swing, please give the pro shop a call on 02890 483825 to arrange a route to improvement.
