PGA Summer Masters Series
On Wednesday morning I travelled to Castlerock to compete in a PGA Summer Masters Series. After a poor start, I settled down a bit to post a 75 (+3) score which left me in tied 8th position. More practice needed or maybe a later tee time! Pictured is my team of Colin McKeown, Harry McKee and Gary Patterson. Thanks for the game lads.
Captain's Day
The Captain invites the gent's section to put your fourballs up on the board for the draw to take place on Sunday, 5 June at 5pm . If you don't have a fourball let me know in the pro shop and we can arrange this for you. Micheal Browne's Captain's Day will be held on Friday, 10 June and Saturday, 11 June.
Fred Daly team news
Pictured is the Fred Daly squad wearing their new FootJoy team uniform. The team clothing was kindly sponsored by Gary Boyd and Bryan Somers Travel. A big thank you to Gary for his generosity the shirts and tops look great and I know Stephen Finlay (Captain) and the boys love the new garments.
Senior Cup
The senior cup boys had a nervous wait on Sunday at Lisburn to find out if they qualified for the matchplay stages of the Ulster Senior Cup. When I left, team Captain Chris Moutray was not hopeful. But a big congratulations go to the team for making it through in fourth qualifying place. We now play Dunmurry at Lisburn on Sunday, 26 June. The team was Michael Sinclair, Mark McMurray, Simon Miskelly, James Patterson and Philip Davidson. Congratulations to Chris and his team.
Wednesday Sweep
The Wednesday Sweep was won this week by Johnny Finlay with a fine 42 points. In second was the bang in-form Ross Latimer with 38 points he pipped Jordan Perry into third on the better back nine (also 38 points). James McVicker picked up the best gross with 70. The twos club paid out £12.28 and all monies have been added to your pro shop accounts.
Sunday Sweep
This week's Sunday Sweep was won by Brian Graham with a fine 40 points, second place went to Simon Swail (37 points) and Andrew McVeigh snatched third on the better back nine with 36 points. The twos club paid out £12 each and all monies have been added to your pro shop accounts. It's nice to see Brian in the winners circle, he is usually handing money over to young Katie Poots! Congratulations Brian.
Ladies ILGU Medal
On Tuesday the ladies competed in the ILGU Medal strokeplay. Doreen McVitty took the spoils with a brilliant nett 70. Rosemary Nixon was second with 72 and Eve McCracken was third with a 76. The twos club paid out £12.25 each and all monies have been added to your pro shop accounts. Congratulations Doreen you didn't need that lesson after all!
Professional's Prize
My Professional's Prize was played in great weather last weekend with a big turnout. The overall winner with a spectacular 44 points was eight handicapper Richard Shiels, he shot a gross 70 his best ever score. Congratulations Ricky. The best gross with a 71 went to Phil Davidson who beat Andrew Finlay on the better back nine. The division prizes were as follows:
Division One (0-9) - First place - Andrew Finlay (41 points) and in second place - Philip Green (39 points).
Division Two (10-17) - First place - Andrew Gibson (41 points) and in second place - Stewart Duncan (40 points).
Division Three - First place - James Sayers (36 points) and in second place - Tony McElroy (36 points).
I'm really pleased to announce the Anno Domini prize went to the ageless Deryck Bland with a brilliant 35 points, congratulations Deryck. The twos club paid out £10 per two and all monies have been added to your pro shop accounts. All prize winners can collect/exchange their prizes in the pro shop.
Intermediate Team News
The Intermediate Team won 3 and 2 and one hole down at Clones on Monday. Pretty good going on a tough course. Our return match at Knock is on Sunday, 29 May at 12pm. We've a good team so I'm sure we'll get through.

Scotty Cameron Fitting Day
On Wednesday I arranged for Scotty Cameron Fitter, Peter McClelland, to come and fit our members for brand new Scotty Cameron Putters. This photo shows all the equipment on show for members to use. The day went really well and we had a fully booked fitting day.
