Well this week has seen the start of some better weather. Any time I see Robert Fyfe dust down his clubs, I know the season has started. The club is starting to have a buzz around it again and the caterer Stephen has revised some menus and the value for money is brilliant. Click here to check out the new Saturday steak menu. N.I Fourball PGA Championship
On Wednesday I travelled to Donaghadee Golf Club to compete in the N.I Fourball PGA Championship. I partnered Phil Collins the Pro from Galgorm Castle. It was a great day weather-wise and the course was spectacular with brilliant greens. We finished with 66 (-5) to finish in third place, mostly thanks to Phil as he made most of the birdies.
Junior Competition
The junior competition over the weekend was won by Matthew Gibson on 40 points, second went to the inform Jonny Linter (39 points) and Ross Latimer took third with 38 points. The junior competition each weekend will run over Saturday and Sunday to encourage participation. Congratulations to all the winners.
Weekly Hat Competition
The Hat Competition runs every Wednesday. Why not turn up get a game and enjoy the banter and the food in the clubhouse afterwards?
Prudential Trophy
The Prudential trophy was played for last weekend with the overall winner being Simon Swail with 42 points. The best gross went to Colin Fairweather 69 on the better back nine from Jonny Linter. The Anno Domini prize went to Don MCkeeman 37 points. The division prizes are as follows:
Division One - First place - Jonny Linter (42 points) and in second place - Trevor Gilliland (40 points).
Division Two - First place - Chris Cairns (39 points) and in second place - Ian Bothwell (38 points).
Division Three - First place - Roy Skillen (39 points) and in second place - Laurence Rankin (37 points).
Division Four - First place - Ken Brady (38 points) and in second place - Stephen Rogan (38 points).
The twos club paid out £11.80 each and all monies have been added to your pro shop accounts. Congratulations to all the winners.
Intermediate Cup
Knock won 3 ½ - 1 ½ against Massereene last Thursday, with 14 holes up. The return match is on Sunday, 1 May at 2.07pm.
Hilditch Cup
The Ladies played for the Hilditch Cup on a sunny Tuesday for a change. Jane Gibson shot 39 points to win the silverware, second place went to Susan Craig 36 points and Vivien Allen took third with 34 points. Heather Kane, Patricia Todd and Katie Poots recorded twos which paid out £17 each. Congratulations to all the winners and all monies have been added to you pro shop accounts.
