Last week's results...

Last week's newsletter content had to be submitted early due to the Easter Holidays, so I have a few results from last week to share.

The Woolly hat played on Wednesday, 23 March was won by Ben Graham with 32 points over the 14 holes. In second was Dougie Browne 31 points and third place went to David Jones with 30 points. The twos club paid out £6 each and all monies have been added to your pro shop accounts.

Winter League

The Winter League has finally finished. As we all know this year's Winter League was a little fragmented to say the least. The adverse weather has played havoc with how we ran the competition. A big thank you goes to the Winter League Committee who have had to deal with many hurdles and revised the structure to enable us to get the 11 weeks played. The big winner of the 2015-16 Winter League is Stephen Finlay (pictured) with 252 points he pipped Andy Jones into second by four points and third went to Ali Charles.

Congratulations to Stephen, well played.Yes, this is the member featured a few weeks ago with his Explanar training aid! So practicing the correct things DO make a difference. The Winter League dinner will be held on Friday, 1 April.

Club Sweep

The first official summer competition of the year took place last Friday, 26 March and Saturday, 27 March a Club Sweep. Stephen Hughes picked up first prize with a brilliant 43 points. The best gross went to Simon Miskelly (69) and the division winners are listed below:

Division One - First place - Ross Latimer and in second place - Chris Brannigan.
Division Two - First place - Ian Killen and in second place - Wally Anderson.
Division Three - First place - Roy Skillen and in second place - Brian Crothers.
Division Four - First place - Harry Beers and in second place - Robin Pooke.

The twos club paid out £10.35 and all monies have been added to your pro shop accounts.

Sunday Sweep

The Sunday Sweep this week was won with a spectacular 49 points by Katie Poots. Second place went to Geoff Brown 39 points who beat Trevor Gilliland on the better back six holes into third place. The twos club paid out £13.30 and all monies have been added to your pro shop accounts. You will be pleased to know young Katie has been cut by six shots! Congratulations to all members and remember all sections of the membership are welcome to compete in the Sunday Sweeps.

Fred Daly

The Fred Daly team kick started their quest for glory with a comprehensive 5-0 home victory over Greenacres GC. The boys played very solid. A special mention goes to Jared Magee who made his debut at this level and it was great for him to get a win. Pictured is Jared with team Captain Stephen 'Mourinho' Finaly. The return match is this Friday at Greenacres.

18 hole open Stableford

On Easter Monday we held an 18 hole open Stableford. Considering how early in the season it is, the numbers were pretty good and many visitors complimented the condition of the course in relation to their own. Ben Graham was the overall winner with a magnificent 40 points, Gary Boyd 37 points (bb6) and Berkley McMonagle also 37 points took the other men's prizes. Jill Brown won the ladies section with 34 points and Alison Sinnamon took second with 30 points. The gross prize with 73 went to James McVicker and the twos paid out £8 each and all monies have been added to pro shop accounts.

Woolly Hat

Wednesday saw the last of the Woolly Hat competitions of the year it was played over 14 holes The winner, with an impressive 36 points, was Simon Swail in second was Gary Kirtlan 33 points and David Jones third with 32 points. Fourth place went to Brian McCullough with 31 points. The twos paid £5.80 and all monies have been added to your pro shop accounts.

Men's Hat Competition

A reminder that the Summer Hat competition will start on Wednesday, 6 April. Come along and enjoy some mid-week competition and banter in the clubhouse after. Stephen our caterer will have a hat menu with tasty food at the right price. Remember, you must be present to pick up your prize on the night!

Summerfield Cup and the Mixed Knockout

Entries are now available for the Summerfield Cup and the Mixed Knockout. You can enter in the pro shop at £7 per pair. If any member needs a partner for either competition leave your name with me and I can match you up.

 

18 hole Stableford

On Tuesday, 29 March the ladies ran an 18 hole stableford competition. The runaway winner with a massive 42 points was Katie Poots. In second with 35 points was Elaine Hanna and third place went to Aileen Wilson. Paula Ellis picked up a whopping £41 for having the only two of the day, and all monies have been added to your pro shop accounts. A special mention must go to young Katie... She has now won five different competitions in a row and came second in the other. Her handicap will come tumbling down!

Ladies Golf Night

I will be discussing all aspects of golf including uneven lies, putting technique, general rules, fashion, pre-shot routines, psychology and a question and answer section. For all those lady members who wish to attend it will start at 7pm on Tuesday, 12 April. If you would like me to include anything on the night let me know before hand. I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible on the night.

 

Titleist Fitting Day

I have the pleasure of telling you I have Titleist Europe coming to Knock on Wednesday, 27 April for a fitting day. I have eight sessions available (40 minute slots) with a range of fittings available from iron fits to wood fits. The new SM6 wedges have just been launched, so wedge fittings are high on the agenda. It's a nice perk to have them coming here as it's usually £40 and a trip to Carton House (home of the national fitting center), so if any members are interested in upgrading or changing to Titleist equipment this year, click here to get in touch.



Masters Sweepstake

The US Masters Sweepstake was a huge success with all players drawn out within two days, thank you to all those who took part. Somebody is going to win the Titleist cart bag and I for one can't wait for the Masters to begin this year!
