Competition news
Snow
Winter League

Last weekend's Winter League was once again affected by the weather as Friday and Saturday brought us snow and hail. Pictured is the 9th green on Friday morning... As if the rain wasn't enough eh!

Sunday Sweep

We did manage to get 13 holes open on the Sunday however and it was nice to see so many of the Sunday players. It's been a while! The Sunday Sweep was played over 13 holes with the big winner being Stephen Hughes with a rather impressive 32 points. Phil Green snatched second place with 28 points on the better back six holes from Richard Lucas in third also on 28 points. The twos club paid out £8 and all monies have been added to your pro shop accounts.

Ladies Stableford

The ladies had their first competition of the year with a 9 hole stableford on Tuesday. The ever consistent Alison Sinnamon picked up first prize with 17 points with Irene Reid (16 points), second pipping Pauline Cook third on the countback. Joan Sinclair had the only two paying out £36. All monies have been added to your pro shop accounts and congratulations to all the winners.

Woolly Hat

On Wednesday I ran a Woolly Hat competition over the 13 holes that where open. The winner with 30 points was David Brown. Richard Hamilton snatched second with 29 points and Des McCausland was third with 28 points. Good scoring considering people haven't been playing much. If you ever needed a reason to enter my twos club it was Wednesday as Trevor Ward picked up a whopping £52 for his two as he was the only player to get one. Congratulations to all the winners and thanks for supporting the Woolly Hat.

Course news

Course Maintenance

The ground staff have been busy with maintenance work this week, below is a picture of the boys topping the hedge to the back of the 9th, this takes the weight off it and also lets light onto the practice green. Lee also tells me they have been painting tee markers and course furniture whilst it's too wet for machinery to go on the course. High on Lee's hit list is to cut some grass and at the start of the week he was able to cut the greens for the first time in four weeks. He tells me the amount of grass was abnormal for this time of the year! Also pictured is the 16th green after it was cut on Monday morning.

Next on the agenda is completing the bunkers at the 7th, we just need a spell of dry weather. I believe the 7th will look stunning this year with the white sand being put in.

Shop news

New year, new gear? What do you have your eye on?

If you've been reading our newsletters, then you've probably seen some of the big new launches already. Next week Foremost TV will be heading to Orlando for the PGA Merchandise Show. What does that mean for you? Well, stand by for some exclusive video content from the people behind some of the very latest equipment launches.

Foremost TV has access to some of the key figures in the golf industry, so we'll be able explain what's coming this year and how it may help your game. If there's technology out there that will help you enjoy better golf, then rest assured we'll be able to help advise you further.

Golf manufacturers are making big strides all the time to make this game easier and our objective is to help you profit from this. So, stay tuned for further news, especially over the next fortnight. That new driver you're after might just be coming into store soon.

If you'd like to register your interest in a new product, get in touch here.

MOT your game!

Now is an ideal time to get your clubs checked over, making sure they are the correct set up for you. Why not pop into the pro shop and arrange a 15 minute fitting session? Also if you have a forged iron set these could have moved through natural use, do you hit your 7 and 8-iron the same distance? Get them checked!

Click here to get in touch for more details!

My correspondence will be limited over the next few weeks as I'm heading away on my honeymoon on Wednesday morning. Ian will be available in the pro shop till I'm back. If you need any emergency repairs or re-grips leave them up to me this weekend and I can have them done that day... Hopefully the weather will be better by the time I return!

Enjoy the rest of the newsletter and have a great weekend. Richard
